  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  2. Whisk 3 ¾ cups of flour with salt, sugar, and yeast.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine milk, water, and butter. Heat the contents in microwave for approximately 1 minute.
  4. Mix together the milk mixture with the dry ingredients and lemon juice.
  5. Knead using an electric mixer for 3 -4 minutes until a smooth, dough-like consistency is reached. You can also knead using hand, if an electric mixer is not available. However, this may increase your preparation time. It’s also a bit of a workout!).
  6. Once the dough is prepared, cover it with a plastic wrap or a towel and let it rise (around 5 – 10 minutes).
  7. Butter a 13 X 9-inch baking pan.
  8. Punch down the dough and divide into 15 equal pieces. Place them on the baking dish.

  10. Put it in the oven and allow the rolls to rise for 20 minutes.
  11. Remove the tray and again. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Serving: 4 loaves – 8 servings

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ½ package active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 4 cups flour (all-purpose)
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 2 egg yolks
  • ½ tsp. brandy
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 10 tbsp. butter
  • ¼ cup raisin
  • ½ cup slivered almonds

  1. Combine yeast, ¼ tsp. sugar, and warm milk in a large bowl. Let the mixture sit for around 10 minutes or until a foamy consistency is formed.
  2. Stir in 1 ½ cup of flour and cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Keep it in a warm place, until it rises – approximately 1 hour.
  3. Beat together 4 egg yolks with the remaining sugar until the mixture is thick in consistency.
  4. Add in brandy and salt.
  5. Beat the yeast dough to deflate and then add yolk mixture along with butter. Stir well.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat 3 egg whites until they become frothy.
  7. Fold them into the dough batter, along with the remaining 2 ½ cups flour.
  8. Cover the bowl and let it rise in a warm place for around 1 hour and 10 minutes.
